Filming someone who photographs. That was the challenge, and the joy, of making this short documentary, shot and edited completely solo over two single days.

In 2019, Konserthuset Stockholm commissioned Yanan Li to document the concert hall's life and soul ahead of its 100th anniversary in 2026. The timing could not have been more difficult. Just as he was about to begin, the pandemic struck and the audiences disappeared. The building looked silent from the outside, but inside the musicians kept playing, streaming music out into a locked-down world through cameras and microphones. It was that contradiction, the empty hall filled with sound, that Yanan turned his lens towards.

I portrayed Yanan at work during a single day and the finished film was shown as part of a midway exhibition in 2022, marking the halfway point to the concert hall's centenary.
